Internships: Communications/Community Relations
Community Hockey Internship- Fall 2015 - Tampa Bay Lightning (Tampa, FL)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Community Hockey Development/Initiatives staff with daily activities and projects.
  • Contribute to the development and coordination of Youth Hockey programs in the Tampa area.
  • Assist on and off ice with clinics, programs and activities.
  • Create marketing plans to promote Youth Hockey initiatives in the surrounding areas.
  • Develop promotional ideas and events for current and potential Tampa Bay Lightning Youth Hockey strategies and sponsors.
  • Assist in scheduling and organizing the Tampa Bay Lightning NHL Street program.
  • Assist and implement ‘Mite Intermission’ performances with local recreation teams in the area.
  • Keep a comprehensive record of events and important material that cover Youth Hockey events.
  • Assist with booking youth hockey events, fundraisers and on-ice activities such as; winter camps, summer camps, holiday camps, clinics and mite intermissions.
  • Attend and contribute to all Tampa Bay Lightning special events.
  • Manage Youth Hockey Department contacts database and calendar.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates must have a working knowledge of the game of hockey.
  • Candidates must possess the ability to ice skate.
  • The internship must be a part of the student’s curriculum.
  • The internship must provide earned hours that directly apply to student’s degree.
  • Interns must work a minimum of 32 hours per week, per semester including game nights.
  • Interns must be high-energy, detail-oriented, team players.
  • Internships do not provide compensation.
  • Internships do not guarantee full-time positions with the Lightning upon completion.
  • All interns are required to lift (25) pounds and perform some manual labor.
  • Interns are required to work all game days and major team events.
  • Must have flexible schedule and be willing to work all Lightning home games, major events, and additional community activities, as well as, travel to local area rinks.

Internships: Administration/General Management
Human Resources Intern - Fall 2015 - Tampa Bay Lightning- Amalie Arena (Tampa, FL)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with Recruiting and Interviewing, including creating job descriptions, pre-screening, setting up interviews, and follow-up
  • Maintain Personnel Files
  • Assist with Worker’s Compensation Claims
  • Assist with Employee-Safety Training
  • Assist with implementation of Onboarding Process
  • Assist with duties related to Internship Program
  • Assist with creation and implementation of Performance Appraisal System
  • Assist with compensation projects to include researching salary information
  • Assist with creating Safety Goals Program
  • Improve employee communications via e-mail and the Lightning intranet
  • Create forms, documents, and spreadsheets
  • Responsible for the overall organization of HR Office
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

Graphic Design Internship - Tampa Bay Lightning- Amalie Arena (Tampa, FL)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The Tampa Bay Times Forum is looking for a full time graphic design intern with creativity, the willingness to learn, and the ability to work well in a team environment. This position works closely with all Marketing team members and must be able to collaborate on projects, take direction, and manage workload in a timely manner. The ideal candidate would demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects from inception to completion in a fast-paced environment. Candidate will receive hands-on learning experience on the day-to-day operations of a professional sport teams and premier venue.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design graphics for web and other marketing media.
• Design collateral (direct mail, sponsorship recaps, sales collateral, brochures, posters, etc.).
• Design website promotions, e-mail newsletters and online campaigns.
• Participate in marketing planning meetings and prepare summary of action items as required.
• Assist with department administrative functions as necessary (sending print-ready artwork to vendors, printing necessary documents).
• Meet company deadlines and deliverables on time.
• Prepare files for offset printing, digital output, and FTP file transfer.
• Work on Proof projects.
• Think conceptually, understand brand strategy, and apply to all areas of projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong visual design skills (good sense of balance, grid, color, typography, etc.).
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Ability to brainstorm creative ideas in a small group setting.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving and research skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with a fast-paced team environment.
• Deadline-driven with a strong sense of priority and follow-through.
• Copywriting and editing skills are a plus.
• Candidates will be required to show an online portfolio with sample projects.
