Consumer Intelligence Intern - Tampa Bay Lightning (Tampa, FL)

JOB SUMMARY

The analytics internship with TBSE provides students with an opportunity to improve critical thinking skills while utilizing data to drive business decisions. This development is derived from various project work, including market research, database analysis, customer intelligence development, best practice analysis, and surveying. In this position you will collaborate with departments across the business, including sales, marketing, arena operations, and events. As a member of the Business Strategy and Analytics department, you will take part in diving into a vast pool of data and translating data to insight to action. Strong candidates are critical thinkers with comfortability using technology that will allow them to efficiently extrapolate data and develop insights.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct research projects, including survey development, analysis and communication, with a focus on consumer experience and satisfaction,  client retention, and future purchase intentions
  • Assist in oversight of marketing analytics to improve business performance
  • Assist in market research efforts and interpret results to provide impactful insights to the business
  • Spotfire Business Intelligence dashboard maintenance
  • Excel-based data collection, analysis and management projects
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to accomplish activities and interact with internal and external parties to exchange semi-complex information related to assigned activities

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Either a junior or senior in college or pursing an advanced degree in business, mathematics, analytics or computer sciences
  • Prior experience in either Analytics or Consumer Research
  • Ability to track details and meet deadlines of multiple projects
  • Prior experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions
  • Expertise with Excel, PowerPoint

Reports To:                               Jeff Gooch, VP Football Operations

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand Tampa Bay Storm practice and game day operations
  • Learn how to plan and organize players travel needs
  • Learn to serve as liaison with opposing teams with respect to logistics, troubleshooting and general planning of game day events
  • Understand how to coordinate, along with conversion crew, the set up and break down of practice facility
  • Learn to use creativity to help improve processes and efficiency

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with office functions including but not limited to game day production, league compliance, and team operations
  • Operate as liaison between the facility and the league to make sure all league guidelines are met
  • Act as point of contact for game operations inquiries
  • Assist and organize all aspects of team/player travel needs
  • Aid the Equipment Manager with day-to-day functions for practice, inventory, and game day set-up
  • General office duties including answering phones, archiving practice, and game video
  • Take initiative to solve issues using research and trial and error with responsibility and take accountability for outcomes
  • Develop short and long term plans to achieve goals/results

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to work up to 30 hours per week (including office hours)
  • Must be able to carry/move/handle 25 pound boxes
  • Self-starter, proactive, highly motivated, problem solver, and team player
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Have the ability to work efficiently and in a timely manner in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Must have a flexible schedule, willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays, pending events schedules
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and follow through on multiple projects
  • Demonstrates honesty and shows integrity
