Broadcasting Intern - 2016/2017 Season - Tampa Bay Lightning (Tampa, FL)

Intern Duties for Radio/Broadcast Department, 2016-17 Lightning Season

  •  Will serve as lone intern for radio/broadcast department for 2016-17 season.
  • Will help set up and break down intermission player interviews and/or any pregame or post-game shows during Lightning Radio game broadcasts at Amalie Arena.

  • Will be the primary daily content creator/monitor for Lightning Radio Network social media feeds during 2016-17 season.

  • When directed, will conduct player interviews and/or team-related stories recorded for Lightning Radio Network social media, podcasts, and the team’s website.

  • When directed, will assist in collection, editing, and posting of content for all auxiliary programming with team’s radio rights holders.

    • Will also post highlight reels and repurposed programming to 24/7 channel Lightning Power Play and archive page.

    • May also create new audio features for Lightning Power Play.

  • When directed, will monitor radio broadcasts and video streams.

  • When available, can assist any other departments.

Requirements/Skills 

  • A strong knowledge of the NHL and the Tampa Bay Lightning is preferred.

  • Must be available for work on all game nights, including weekends, holidays, and late night broadcasts.

  • Must have some experience in broadcast journalism, broadcast production, and/or print journalism.

  • Must be proficient in editing programs such as Adobe Audition to carry out regular tasks.

  • Must have own laptop computer, and mp3 recording device (reliable smart phone also acceptable).

  • An understanding of engaging, great social media content is preferred.

  • A self-starter, a go-getter, and someone who wants to be part of a great TEAM working together for outstanding audio content is perfect for this position.

*This is an unpaid internship, but is eligible for course credit.

Fall 2016 Client Services Internship - Tampa Bay Lightning (Tampa, FL)

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the service of Season Ticket and Premium Seating Clientele
  • Manage the Client Services Lounge.
  • Assist the sales staff and managers with Season Ticket Member benefits, giveaways and coordinating and executing various events in conjunction with Lightning games.
  • Responsible daily contact with Season Ticket Members and be the frontline for general client inquiries by answering the Season Ticket Member general line and responding to e-mails in a timely manner.
  • Confirm ticket orders, manage and update databases, assist with the overall sales process, including event and game day responsibilities and other general office duties as assigned.
  • Help with Retention Staff, Executive Seating Staff and Client Services.
  • Maintain experience of Season Ticket Members through upholding our standards of service on a day to day basis.

Qualifications: 

  • Interns should be career oriented in the sports industry.
  • Exceptional work ethic, professionalism and desire for the industry.
  • Ability to work Lightning games to provide assistance on game days and during special events.
  • Exceptional phone etiquette and excellent communication skills (oral and written) required.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Human Resources Intern - Fall 2016 - Tampa Bay Lightning- Amalie Arena (Tampa, FL)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with Recruiting and Interviewing, including creating job descriptions, pre-screening, setting up interviews, and follow-up
  • Maintain Personnel Files
  • Assist with Worker’s Compensation Claims
  • Assist with Employee-Safety Training
  • Assist with implementation of Onboarding Process
  • Assist with duties related to Internship Program
  • Assist with creation and implementation of Performance Appraisal System
  • Assist with compensation projects to include researching salary information
  • Assist with creating Safety Goals Program
  • Improve employee communications via e-mail and the Lightning intranet
  • Create forms, documents, and spreadsheets

  • Perform other duties, as assigned
