ThunderBug Mascot Intern - Spring 2018 Semester - Tampa Bay Lightning (Tampa, FL)

Summary

The Lightning Mascot Intern will be an integral part of our Marketing Department assisting with scheduling community appearances, marketing ThunderBug in the Tampa Bay area, and communicating information with clients.  This intern should be a highly motivated, energetic, and talented individual.   The ideal candidate would have prior experience performing as a mascot, possess excellent non-verbal communication skills, and have a creative and humorous personality.

Responsibilities:

  • Market and promote ThunderBug Appearances
  • Assist ThunderBug at Lightning events and other community appearances
  • Help to create and develop new revenue sources for the mascot program
  • Help during Lightning home games

Qualifications

  •  Qualified candidates must possess superior organizational skills and be able to function in a fast-paced, multi-task setting

  • Individuals must possess excellent oral and written communication skills?

  • Must have a working knowledge of the following Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and have internet research skills

  • Must have a working knowledge of the following social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter & Instagram

  • Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record

Requirements:?

• All candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S.A.

• All candidates must be currently enrolled in a university or college

• Internships are unpaid positions

• Must be able to work all ThunderBug appearances and Lightning home games beginning September 2016 and working through the 2016-2017 season.

Client Services Internship - Spring 2018 Semester - Tampa Bay Lightning (Tampa, FL)

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide world-class customer service to Season Ticket Members and Premium Clientele

  • Manage the daily operations of the Lakewood Ranch Client Services Lounge

  • Assist the sales and service staff with Season Ticket Member benefits, giveaways, and coordinating and executing various events in conjunction with Lightning games

  • Responsible for daily contact with Season Ticket Members and be the frontline for general client inquiries by answering the general line and responding to emails in a timely manner

  • Confirm ticket orders, manage and update database, assist with the overall sales process, including event and game day duties

  • Work closely with the Sales, Retention, Client Services staff and other departments on various projects

  • Perform other duties, as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Career oriented in the Sports & Entertainment Industry

  • Exceptional work ethic, professional demeanor, and desire for the industry

  • Ability to work Lightning and Storm games to provide assistance on game days and during special events

  • Exceptional phone etiquette, organizational and excellent communication skills (oral and written) required

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Internships: Player Operations
Tampa Bay Storm Internship - Spring 2018 Semester - Tampa Bay Storm (Tampa, FL)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand Tampa Bay Storm practice and game day operations
  • Learn how to plan and organize players travel needs
  • Learn to serve as liaison with opposing teams with respect to logistics, troubleshooting and general planning of game day events
  • Understand how to coordinate, along with conversion crew, the set up and break down of practice facility
  • Learn to use creativity to help improve processes and efficiency

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with office functions including but not limited to game day production, league compliance, and team operations
  • Operate as liaison between the facility and the league to make sure all league guidelines are met
  • Act as point of contact for game operations inquiries
  • Assist and organize all aspects of team/player travel needs
  • Aid the Equipment Manager with day-to-day functions for practice, inventory, and game day set-up
  • General office duties including answering phones, archiving practice, and game video
  • Take initiative to solve issues using research and trial and error with responsibility and take accountability for outcomes
  • Develop short and long term plans to achieve goals/results

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to work up to 30 hours per week (including office hours)
  • Must be able to carry/move/handle 25 pound boxes
  • Self-starter, proactive, highly motivated, problem solver, and team player
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Have the ability to work efficiently and in a timely manner in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Must have a flexible schedule, willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays, pending events schedules
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and follow through on multiple projects
  • Demonstrates honesty and shows integrity
