Intern Duties for Radio/Broadcast Department, 2014-15 Lightning Season 
• Set up and break down intermission player interviews and/or any pregame or post-game shows during Lightning Radio game broadcasts at Amalie Arena.
• Primary daily content creator for Lightning Radio Network social media feeds.
• When directed, will conduct player interviews and/or team-related stories recorded for Lightning Radio Network social media, podcasts, and the team’s website.
• When directed, will assist in collection, editing, and posting of content for all auxiliary programming with team’s radio rights holders.
• When directed, will monitor radio broadcasts and video streams.
• When available, can assist any other departments.

Requirements/Skills

• A strong knowledge of the NHL and the Tampa Bay Lightning is preferred.
• Must be available for work on all game nights, including weekends, holidays, and late night broadcasts.
• Must have some experience in broadcast journalism, broadcast production, and/or print journalism.
• Must be proficient in editing programs such as Adobe Audition to carry out regular tasks.
• An understanding of good social media content is preferred.

Description

The social media intern will provide day-to-day support for all four of the company’s brands: the Tampa Bay Lightning, Amalie Arena, the Tampa Bay Storm, and Tampa Bay Sports. This internship will offer a hands-on opportunity with all four accounts, but with primary emphasis on the arena and the Storm. Applicants should have strong communication skills, teamwork skills, as well as a willingness to explore new and out of the box ideas.  Applicants must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within the social media and greater marketing departments. Reports to the social media coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Brainstorm new and innovative ways to present and curate content

• Assist in creating, launching, and executing company-wide and department-specific campaigns across social media

• Fulfillment of social media contests and giveaways

• Research on industry trends and how to best implement them

• Work with all areas of the company, including but not limited to public relations, creative services, sponsorship activation, and ticket sales, on how best to relay and use information

The Lightning Vision Motion Graphics Intern for the 2017-2018 season will observe, learn from and collaborate with Lightning Vision personnel to assist in fulfilling the department’s motion graphics production requests, inclusive of the execution of the event presentation/display system requirements for Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Storm games and other Amalie Arena events

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist and receive training from Motion Graphics Coordinators on design template projects
  • Assist in the preparation of game-day graphic elements as directed for the variety of the facility’s LED and HD displays, and, IPTV system
  • Potential to serve on game day production crew after graduation
  • Assist in the organization of files including the organization of source materials

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current College/University Student pursuing a degree in graphic arts and/or graphic animation
  • Currently following a curriculum of art, composition, modeling and lighting/shading techniques
  • Some experience with non-linear editing systems, ideally Adobe Creative Suite 5 or 6 (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects and Soundbooth)
  • Some knowledge of Adobe Illustrator; Encore and other 3D Graphics (such as Cinema 4D) software is a plus
  • Knowledge of NHL Hockey & Arena Football is preferred, but not required

The Tampa Bay Times Forum is looking for a full time graphic design intern with creativity, the willingness to learn, and the ability to work well in a team environment. Event Operations Internship - Summer and Fall 2017 Semester - Tampa Bay Lightning/Amalie Arena (Tampa, FL)

Overview:

Amalie Arena is Tampa’s premier entertainment venue. Home to the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning and the Arena Football League’s Tampa Bay Storm, the arena hosts the nation’s top musical acts, family shows, and collegiate athletic events. Students participating in our internship program will receive hands-on learning experiences on the operations of an arena that houses two professional sports teams and numerous events.

Event Operations Interns will spend the majority of the internship working with the Guest Services and Platinum Services departments, while occasionally assisting other departments during special events.  It is our intention to bring in students with a strong interest in Event Management and help them acquire the skills needed to succeed in this area. Skills acquired during this internship will include leadership, customer service, arena setup, accommodating guests with disabilities, answering guest compliments and complaints. This internship has specific game/event day responsibilities that will vary from day to day (including assisting with giveaways, building tours, game note distribution, ticket “on-sale” crowd management, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Students must be currently enrolled in a college or university, preferably a Junior or Senior
  • Students must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and organizational skills

Concert and Event Marketing Internship - Summer and Fall 2017 Semesters - Tampa Bay Lightning/Amalie Arena (Tampa, FL)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in creating requests for proposal, as well as collecting and providing feedback on advertising pitches
  • Maintaining marketing calendars and spreadsheets
  • Assisting with grassroots promotions
  • Assisting with media grids, including verifying schedules, submitting invoices and creating ad packs
  • Implementation of promotions including tracking media ticket orders, submitting copy, images, etc., and tracking activation
  • Writing press releases for upcoming shows and promotional copy
  • Monitoring the website and social media
  • Maintain show files
  • Maintaining the venue media list
  • Working event nights and assisting with media relations, escorting writers, photographers, etc.
  • Maintaining poster displays within the building
  • Assisting with social media calendar, including researching upcoming acts, reviews, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand Tampa Bay Storm practice and game day operations
  • Learn how to plan and organize players travel needs
  • Learn to serve as liaison with opposing teams with respect to logistics, troubleshooting and general planning of game day events
  • Understand how to coordinate, along with conversion crew, the set up and break down of practice facility
  • Learn to use creativity to help improve processes and efficiency

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with office functions including but not limited to game day production, league compliance, and team operations
  • Operate as liaison between the facility and the league to make sure all league guidelines are met
  • Act as point of contact for game operations inquiries
  • Assist and organize all aspects of team/player travel needs
  • Aid the Equipment Manager with day-to-day functions for practice, inventory, and game day set-up
  • General office duties including answering phones, archiving practice, and game video
  • Take initiative to solve issues using research and trial and error with responsibility and take accountability for outcomes
  • Develop short and long term plans to achieve goals/results

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Able to work up to 30 hours per week (including office hours)
  • Must be able to carry/move/handle 25 pound boxes
  • Self-starter, proactive, highly motivated, problem solver, and team player
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Have the ability to work efficiently and in a timely manner in order to meet strict deadlines
