Lightning Vision Internship - Videography/Editing - Tampa Bay Lightning (Tampa, FL)

Responsibilites

  • Observe, learn from and collaborate with Lightning Vision personnel to assist in fulfilling the department’s video production requests, including the execution of the game presentation for Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Storm games and other Amalie Arena events.
  • Serve as a production assistant for Lightning Vision video shoots (lighting, grip, etc) and editing assistant on certain projects (pre-builds, rough assemblies, etc.)
  • Assist and receive training from Video Coordinators in the preparation of game-day elements
  • (i.e. video features & graphical elements) as directed.
  • Potential to serve on game day production crew after graduation.
  • Assist in the development of the organization’s marketing & sponsorship needs while satisfying individual brand identity.
  • Assist in the organization of files and footage including logging game tapes, editing highlight melts, digital storage integration and dub requests.

Qualifications

  • Currently College / University student pursuing a degree in video/television/multi-media production.
  • Currently following a curriculum of basic camera, lighting and microphone techniques.
  • Some experience with non-linear editing systems, ideally Adobe Creative Suite 5 or 6 (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects and Soundbooth)
  • Some knowledge of NHL hockey & arena football is preferred.
  • Ability to assist with multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Position requires flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and some late nights as dictated by game & event schedules and accompanying pre-production.

Lightning Vision Internship - Motion Graphics - Tampa Bay Lightning (Tampa, FL)

Responsibilites

  • Observe, learn from and collaborate with Lightning Vision personnel to assist in fulfilling the department’s motion graphics production requests, inclusive of the execution of the event presentation/display system requirements for Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Storm games and other Amalie Arena events.

  • Assist and receive training from Motion Graphics Coordinators on design template projects.

  • Assist in the preparation of game-day graphic elements as directed for the variety of the facility's LED and HD displays and IPTV system.

  • Potential to serve on game day production crew after graduation.

  • Assist in the organization of files including the organization of source materials.

Qualifications

  • Current College/University Student pursuing a degree in graphic arts and/or graphic animation
  • Currently following a curriculum of art, composition, modeling and lighting/shading techniques
  • Some experience with non-linear editing systems, ideally Adobe Creative Suite 5 or 6 (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects and Soundbooth)
  • Some knowledge of Adobe Illustrator; Encore and other 3D Graphics (such as Cinema 4D) software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of NHL Hockey & Arena Football is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to assist with multiple projects simultaneously.

Internships: Communications/Community Relations
Community Hockey Internship - Fall 2015 - Tampa Bay Lightning (Tampa, FL)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Community Hockey Development/Initiatives staff with daily activities and projects.
  • Contribute to the development and coordination of Youth Hockey programs in the Tampa area.
  • Assist on and off ice with clinics, programs and activities.
  • Create marketing plans to promote Youth Hockey initiatives in the surrounding areas.
  • Develop promotional ideas and events for current and potential Tampa Bay Lightning Youth Hockey strategies and sponsors.
  • Assist in scheduling and organizing the Tampa Bay Lightning NHL Street program.
  • Assist and implement ‘Mite Intermission’ performances with local recreation teams in the area.
  • Keep a comprehensive record of events and important material that cover Youth Hockey events.
  • Assist with booking youth hockey events, fundraisers and on-ice activities such as; winter camps, summer camps, holiday camps, clinics and mite intermissions.
  • Attend and contribute to all Tampa Bay Lightning special events.
  • Manage Youth Hockey Department contacts database and calendar.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates must have a working knowledge of the game of hockey.
  • Candidates must possess the ability to ice skate.
  • The internship must be a part of the student’s curriculum.
  • The internship must provide earned hours that directly apply to student’s degree.
  • Interns must work a minimum of 32 hours per week, per semester including game nights.
  • Interns must be high-energy, detail-oriented, team players.
  • Internships do not provide compensation.
  • Internships do not guarantee full-time positions with the Lightning upon completion.
  • All interns are required to lift (25) pounds and perform some manual labor.
  • Interns are required to work all game days and major team events.
  • Must have flexible schedule and be willing to work all Lightning home games, major events, and additional community activities, as well as, travel to local area rinks.
